Linz Compact: A Short City History

Linz Compact: A Short City History

Saturday 8 August · 08:00Nordico · oberoesterreich

What's it about?

The new collection show focuses entirely on the concentrated history of the city. The ground floor of the Nordico, specially converted for this purpose, is the only place in Linz where the city's history is compactly told in eight chapters. Here, 2,500 years of Linz can be experienced in fast motion. The new format summarizes formative events of the city in various media and shows its development from a Celtic settlement to the provincial capital, from a supra-regional transport hub to an industrial location, and finally to a self-determined cultural city. Different influences on the events, such as its location on the Danube or changing political ideologies, become visible. With plenty of space for further immersion and lingering, the journey through the chronicle of the provincial capital offers something new for everyone. In August, families can visit the Nordico with free admission.
