What's it about?
Clarinetist Daniel Ottensamer and cellist Stephan Koncz are not only members of the Vienna Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic respectively: the two colleagues also share a passion for chamber music. Together with pianist Christoph Traxler, the musicians have come together to perform, among other pieces, Beethoven's famous 'Gassenhauer Trio'. Beethoven incorporated a melody from Joseph Weigl's opera L’amor marinaro into the third movement, which after its premiere in 1797 was a well-known hit (and earworm). The program is completed with other compositions for clarinet, cello, and piano by composers such as Max Bruch, Italian film composer Nino Rota, Arvo Pärt, and Vincent d’Indy.
