Wild-Herbal Walk: Wild Fruits & Roots with Gerda Holzmann in Altmelon
What's it about?
Wild herbs often grow unnoticed at the side of the path. We encounter these valuable treasures of nature every day, without knowing how much they can enrich our lives. Join me for a trip into the natural plant world of the Waldviertel! The wild fruits are ripe, and the first roots can be dug up. Rowan berries, rose hips, and blackthorn are just a few of the vitamin-rich fruits that can enhance your well-being. Among the wild roots, herbs like comfrey, angelica, bloodroot, and dandelion are traditional medicinal plants. Discover wild fruits and root herbs with me and learn about their processing and healing properties. Date/Meeting point: Saturday, October 17, 2026, 2–6 pm Kirchenwirt Lichtenwallner Altmelon Altmelon 2, 3925 Arbesbach Learn how to: safely identify wild autumn herbs harvest and process wild herbs properly dry and preserve herbs make herbal extracts like herbal oil or tincture create a lasting jam with freshly picked wild fruits make healing salves for home use discover the hidden powers within wild plants. On a route through forest and meadow, we will closely examine native wild herbs. Afterwards, we will jointly prepare a sour honey with herbs as a souvenir. For you: GrünKraft notepad, homemade souvenir Duration: 3-4 hours Contribution: €55 (including materials) Participants: minimum 6, maximum 20 Registration required, possible until the day before. Please note that for nature conservation reasons, no large quantities of herbs can be collected during the herbal walk. Please bring: sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, and provisions as needed.
