What's it about?

Together instead of alone: Visiting service at the Hörsching Care and Nursing Centre. Together instead of alone is a deeply human need. Yet more and more people live or are alone and feel lonely in their everyday lives. Elderly people in particular often suffer from limited social contacts. The visiting service of the Red Cross Linz-Land aims to counteract the isolation of people. For the Hörsching Care and Nursing Centre, volunteers are now being sought for the visiting service. The visiting service offers companionship and social contacts in daily life. Volunteers pay regular visits to people and treat them with great appreciation and empathy. The social offer provides people with variety in their everyday lives. There is time for conversations, joint activities, walks and more. From summer 2026, a visiting service will also be offered at the Care and Nursing Centre in Hörsching. In this house, residents in need of care find a new home. In the future, people who wish to use the visiting service will be visited there by volunteers once or twice a week for about one to two hours. Of course, visiting appointments can be individually arranged. The voluntary activity is in any case a meaningful leisure activity with much recognition from the people and is an enrichment for both sides. Giving time is probably one of the most beautiful attentions one can show people.
