What's it about?

Information evening Stress and burnout are on the rise in Austria – many people know individuals in their environment who complain about heavy workload, or are affected themselves. According to the 'Stress Study' 2025, 70% of the Austrian population often or very often feel stressed. Work is cited as the biggest stress factor by 54%. Almost every second Austrian shows symptoms associated with burnout: The STADA Health Report 2025 reports that 57% have already experienced burnout symptoms. Burnout is no longer a fringe phenomenon but a societal challenge with significant impacts on health, work ability, and quality of life. Burnout is usually described as a state of profound exhaustion — emotional, mental, and often physical. It is not a short-term overload but a longer-term, often insidious process: too many stressors over a prolonged period, without sufficient rest or support, can lead to the so-called burnout spiral. The main symptoms of burnout include constant fatigue, inner exhaustion, sleep problems, and reduced performance. In my lecture, I will explore what stress actually is and when it becomes harmful. The 12 phases of burnout will be explained, along with measures for prevention. Ways out of this spiral will also be shown: How can I regain mental well-being? Because the good news is: you can do a lot for your mental health with the right tools! Speaker: Katharina Janousek, MSc; Clinical Psychologist and Health Psychologist practicing independently at Pfarrhof Schweiggers. Cost: Course fee: €10.00 Group size: 15 to 30 people Registration deadline: September 21!
