Martin Veigl

Martin Veigl is a representative of a younger generation of artists who have rediscovered figuration as a contemporary means of expression. His painting focuses on people and their social constellations, combining contemporary pictorial themes with a reflected engagement with art historical traditions.The focus is on crowds of people that are reminiscent of fleeting snapshots of urban everyday life. However, these seemingly random scenes are carefully composed. Veigl deliberately moves in the tension between the aesthetics of the snapshot and complex, choreographed pictorial spaces. Inspired by the dramaturgy of Baroque ceiling frescoes, classical perspectives dissolve and the pictorial space opens up.
