The night watchman's appearance alone is impressive: a halberd in one hand, a large lantern in the other, a black hat and a huge cloak. With this mystical appearance, night watchman Rudolf greets guests and invites them to embark on an exciting journey through Eggenburg's past. After nightfall, the city becomes quiet – only a few people are still out on the streets. But then the night watchman's distinctive call rings out: "Hört ihr Leut' und lasst euch sagen..." (Hear ye people and let yourselves be told...), and a fascinating tour through Eggenburg's history and culture begins.
