What's it about?
In UR FAUST. URE GOETHE. we dust off Faust's study and resurrect a modern human: In search of spirit, sensuality, and intoxication, he makes a pact with Mephisto the devil. Can he give him everything? Does knowledge alone lead to happiness? Is man more than an omniscient chatbot? Will the pact with the devil ultimately lead him to heaven or hell, will he be judged or can he be saved by love? At the time the work was created, we were at the beginning of the industrial revolution; today, we are at the beginning of the AI revolution. Artificial intelligence also promises us humans all the knowledge in the world, and just like Faust, we are in a dilemma. We are tempted by the heavenly advantages, while at the same time, the devilish disadvantages worry us. Could artificial intelligence literally grow over our heads on our constant path to self-optimization? It's up to us!
