With the new Zeitpolster group "Wohlviertel", the Zeitpolster network in Lower Austria continues to grow. It brings people who need support together with volunteers from the region – creating a new, reliable togetherness. With the "Wohlviertel" group, the 20th Zeitpolster group has already been established in Lower Austria. Its catchment area includes the municipalities of Raabs an der Thaya, Drosendorf-Zissersdorf, Japons, Geras, Langau, Pernegg, Irnfritz-Messern, Brunn an der Wild, Horn, Sigmundsherberg, Meiseldorf, Eggenburg, Straning-Grafenberg, Burgschleinitz-Kühnring and Hardegg and is extended by Gars am Kamp and surroundings. The establishment of the new group is supported by the LEADER region Waldviertler Wohlviertel. The regional team consists of Anna Mickl, Alexandra Angenbauer, Gudrun Edelmaier and Franz Kaindl. Together, they want to build a reliable network of volunteers and support people who need help in everyday life. "We are very much looking forward to being able to help many people in our region in an uncomplicated and low-threshold way with this innovative neighborhood help concept. At the same time, we want to inspire people to get involved, experience community and also provide for their own future with their commitment," says team leader Anna Mickl. Helping and providing for your own future Zeitpolster arranges volunteers for elderly and sick people, people with support needs, and families. The help ranges, for example, from joint walks and shopping to driving services and escorts, as well as companionship and simple everyday support. The special feature of the Zeitpolster model: Those who give time for others today build up time credits for their own future. For every hour worked, one hour is credited to the personal time account. This can be redeemed later when you need support yourself. Those who have not yet saved up hours can also use Zeitpolster and pay a low-cost 11 euros per hour for the support. In this way, Zeitpolster combines voluntary commitment with personal provision and creates support that stays in the region and connects people. Get to know Zeitpolster in person An opportunity to get to know the new team and the Zeitpolster model will be at the Health Festival in Horn on September 19, 2026, at the Kunsthaus Horn. Zeitpolster will be there and will provide information on how to receive support or become active as a helper yourself. The next meeting for helpers and all those who would like to become one will take place on October 15, 2026, at 6 p.m. The meeting point is the recreation room at Robert-Hamerling-Straße 3 in Horn, in the passage to the garden. Interested parties are invited to drop by without obligation, get to know the team and learn more about the possibilities of helping out.
