Andreas Rainer, known as the Vienna Everyday Poet, collects quotes and quirks from Viennese everyday life for over 300,000 followers on social media. His view of the city of grand stages focuses especially on the small alleys, coffee houses, subway stations, and supermarkets where comedy and tragedy meet daily. After years of successful anonymity, he ventured onto the stage for the first time in 2025 — and with success: all dates were sold out. Using the most popular quotes from the past eight years, he tells the story of the Vienna Everyday Poets, explains why he is only recognized in Graz or in swimming trunks, and presents the most beautiful representatives of the literary genre of stairwell notes. He also tries to develop a guide on how to survive the most livable city in the world. Because how can it be that Vienna is simultaneously the most livable and the unfriendliest city in the world? Why do we have the leisure to waste the whole day in a coffee house, yet panic when a second checkout is needed if three people are waiting in line at the supermarket?
