Urban Sketching - the watercolor sketch
What's it about?
Places and landscapes that one has sketched oneself remain especially vivid in memory and acquire a very own significance – far beyond photographic images. Whether under bridges, between skyscraper canyons, in the crowds, in the green spaces, or in the café: together we explore sketchy motifs, shapes, and structures of the surroundings that lead to individual image themes. The variety of colors arises from the changing play of light and shadow on site. Architecture, square designs, green areas, and people open up exciting compositions and inspiring perspectives. How can such impressions be captured? How do I go from sketch to painting? How do I develop my own visual spaces and structures? There are practical answers to these questions – accompanied by introductions to drawing and watercolor techniques. The museum's surroundings offer numerous suitable motifs and invite first steps in urban sketching. Please bring to the first session: A4 watercolor pad, HB, B2, B4 pencils, waterproof fineliner (black). Watercolors and brushes will be provided. Cost: (excluding admission): €29 per person.
