In its summer exhibition, galerie gugging shows how closely this visual world is connected with Art Brut: immediate, individual, and of great formal power. "comics brut" brings together works by Basel Al-Bazzaz, Manuel Griebler, Hannes Lehner, and the Central African artist Didier Kassaï, whose works are being shown for the first time in Austria. At a time when comics are increasingly entering contemporary art, galerie gugging dedicates itself with comics brut to an interface that could hardly be more current: the dialogue between comic and Art Brut. What at first glance appears to be different visual worlds proves to be surprisingly related on closer inspection – in its immediate expressive power, serial narrative style, and independent formal language.We cordially invite you to the vernissage at galerie gugging on June 2, 2026, at 7 PM, in the presence of Basel Al-Bazzaz, Hannes Lehner, the Gugging artist Manuel Griebler, and the Gugging artists.
