Ich bin Ruth

What's it about?

The touching piece tells the short life of Ruth Maier through her letters and diary entries. The Viennese Jewish woman emigrated to Norway at the age of 18. In exile, she fell in love with the poet Gunvor Hofmo. But the escape did not protect her from the Nazis: in November 1942, Ruth was arrested in Oslo and deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered at the age of 22. The actresses Claudia Kottal, Anna Kramer, and Suse Lichtenberger succeed in creating a coherent theater evening from this tragic biography. The production was rightly nominated for the Nestroypreis in 2025. Now you can see it live at Wachau!
