Christof Spörk - Maximo Lieder
What's it about?
Christof Spörk has written many songs. And he can sing a song about what it's like to live in the most beautiful country of latent dissatisfaction, pardon, in the most dissatisfied country of latent beauty. Others may croon Heimat (homeland) or love songs. Spörk has so far sung more about noise barriers, business parks, or snow cannons. With "Maximo Lieder," the PhD in Political Science and proclaimed jazz singer Spörk returns to his roots. In 2001, he founded an Austro-Cuban project called "Maximo Lieder," a musical-satirical reference to the rock star among strong men, the long-deceased "Máximo Líder" Fidel Castro (may he rest in peace). At that time, even ORF believed that the era of strong leaders and dictators was over. That's why Karl Moik had to go. Paradise seemed near. But far from it. Shivering and in awe, we are currently witnessing a renaissance of the equally "strong" and intellectually modest men, whom it is better not to entrust a dog to. Although most love their dogs more than their country anyway. Not only dog owners think they are in the wrong century. Also, the famous bird that every eligible voter can own is suffering from many brains dying. Probably the food supply is not enough. Too much of everything. Too little edible. Smartphones may be more convenient than newspapers. But birds, unlike Homo sapiens, dislike hot air or alternative facts. At least one grain (truth) should always be included. Now, with the birds. But don't worry: "Maximo Lieder" Spörk does not give quick answers. But perhaps asks some right questions. Does world history belong to the species of ruminants? If yes, are we, the storytellers, more goats or sheep, as claimed by a leading world religion? Or: why do we care that kindergarten teachers are good people and accuse politicians of the same? Why are assholes in male bodies admired as assertive? Yes, why do we let complete idiots perform in front of us day after day? Are we perhaps on a collective sales trip for AI? And why does a missing "i" in the most beautiful of arts, music, turn a soul-deprived, bitterly poor multimillionaire who thinks he must save the world? From January 2026 and repeatedly thereafter: Maximo Lieder! Because what the world needs now is: Liedership!
