Ensemble Ekphrasis
What's it about?
On the occasion of Oskar Kokoschka's 140th birthday, the quartet presents world premieres of their own compositions, inspired by the visual and literary work of the Pöchlarn-born artist of the century. Meditative grooves from the rhythm section lay the foundation for the finely drawn melodies of the string-wind duo and offer space for improvisation, which the ensemble exploits with the right touch of charm and wit. Around Kokoschka's images and words, the quartet creates a colorful musical excursion full of refreshing creativity and pleasant surprises.
