What's it about?

Orwell's modern classic '1984' is the starting point for the Melk Summer Games 2026. While in the original, history is rewritten in the 'Ministry of Truth', the title currently triggers a wide variety of thought processes. As in the original, today we also see fake news and authoritarian systems on the one hand, and humanity and resistance on the other. On the one hand, 'big brother is watching you', on the other, the urge for self-determination and intimacy. The protagonists of the play face this challenge - driven by the longing for freedom and dignity. A play full of tension and explosiveness and a spark of hope.
