What's it about?

Opening: Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM Exhibition duration: Saturday, October 17, 2026 – November 28, 2026 Admission: Free Artists: Christian Murzek, Leo Mayr, Gertraud Köck Opening acts: Mario Schlager & Juka (the Third Hand), Kimyan Law Between the Things On October 18, 2026, the cultural association STEIN*STEIN from Stein an der Donau will be visiting the Stadt Haag cultural association. The exhibition focuses on those artists who usually shape and influence the association behind the scenes. Featuring works by Christian Murzek, Leo Mayr, and Gertraud Köck, three independent artistic positions engage in a dialogue that deals with the visible and invisible structures of our present. Christian Murzek translates digital processes into analog visual worlds. Algorithms, computer-generated forms, and machine processes are transformed into painting, printmaking, and sculpture. His works question the increasing infiltration of our everyday life by digital systems and give the abstract processes a material, sensually perceptible presence. Leo Mayr focuses on humans. His ceramic figures populate the exhibition space like incidental encounters from everyday life. With fine humor and great precision, he creates portraits of a society in late capitalism—familiar, sometimes bizarre, and at the same time quietly sharp. His works make social structures visible without illustrating them. Gertraud Köck explores material, repetition, and space. From photographic observations of everyday transit spaces, she develops large-format screen prints on paper that unfold as spatial objects. Movement and stillness, function and perception merge into installations where the seemingly trivial reveals itself as a formative ordering system. Although their media are very different, the three positions share an interest in the systems that determine our lives—digital, societal, and spatial. The exhibition makes these often hidden orders tangible and opens new perspectives on the relationship between humans, technology, material, and environment. The evening will be opened by a concert from Mario Schlager and Juka, members of the band Dritte Hand. With poetic lyrics and an independent sound blending psychedelic rock, folk, and experimental influences, the duo adds a musical layer to the exhibition. Like the visual works, their music explores the structures of everyday life and translates them into a layered, atmospheric sound language.
