What's it about?
READING and other embarrassments from the life of a writer. For about 18 years, Thomas Raab has been active in the German-speaking world, reading from his books, hosting events, and giving evenings that combine literature and music. It has increasingly become clear how much the audience and he enjoy the free storytelling during readings, the tangents, the shared laughter, and the direct exchange. With VERLESUNG, Thomas Raab fulfills the long-standing wish to make exactly that the conceptual core of the evening. A literary cabaret solo format, beyond the traditional author reading. A writer sits on stage with his books beside him—and fails spectacularly at reading aloud from them. Instead, he shares behind-the-scenes stories about writing and failure. About readings that went wrong. About passages that were cut. About embarrassing moments that never made it into the book. About absurdities in his industry and other secrets. VERLESUNG is not a traditional reading. Nor is it a comedy with a barrage of jokes. It is a very personal, very funny evening between literature, storytelling, and self-disclosure. AND: he also sits at the piano!
