Stefano Bernardin - Hamlet - one man show
What's it about?
Everyone knows him, Shakespeare's prince with the skull in his hand. Everyone knows his words "To be or not to be." But who is Hamlet really? What does he want? And who prevents him? Hamlet and all his antagonists are portrayed here by only one actor. Does one actor play all roles? Or is it a Hamlet who plays everything? That is the question here. Hubsi Kramar and Stefano Bernardin have condensed the play "Hamlet" into a one-man show, without betraying Shakespeare. The 400-year-old work has not lost its relevance. "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark" ... and Denmark is everywhere. Director: Hubsi Kramar. Press review: "The beginning is the end and yet a beginning. The curtain rises at the Accent Theater. The actor Stefano Bernardin (directed by Hubsi Kramar) appears in the role of Hamlet. Freeze at the moment of the deadly sword thrust. And from there, in his mind, most of his life flashes by in a few moments – for the audience in about an hour and a half – very intense, very clear, switching from one role to another with many humorous moments. The desperate prince, with a cheap crown, broad-legged, proletarian, his uncle Claudius, who made himself king by poisoning his brother, Hamlet's father. In a conspiracy with Hamlet's mother Gertrude, who now becomes Claudius's wife. Or the sycophantic Claudius advisor Polonius, father of Ophelia, Hamlet's unfulfilled love. ... And incidentally, one or the other line, sometimes just a word, such as "presumption of innocence," evokes current references to unscrupulous power games that (not only) drive Hamlet to despair. At the premiere, there were several applause breaks and at the end, minutes-long standing ovations. " KiJUKU An unreserved recommendation! Falter
