"The Simon & Garfunkel Story" has already thrilled over 500,000 people worldwide. After its Austria premiere in 2018 at the Vienna Museum Quarter, a pandemic-related pause, and a highly successful tour in 2024 through 15 cities in Germany, "The Sound Of Silence" returns to Austria in 2025. As an incredibly heartfelt homage, the celebrated tribute show faithfully recreates the characteristic sound of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel on stage and takes the audience on a captivating journey through the careers of these charming yet profound folk-rock stars with hits like "The Boxer," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and "Mrs. Robinson." The center of this moving and musically high-quality evening are songs that continue to enchant with their unmistakable and poetic character. The two main performers bear a striking resemblance to their idols and interpret the works with skill and great respect, together with a five-piece band. The show traces their first musical steps as two New York boys, their incredible success as one of the best-selling music groups of the 1960s, and their split in 1970. The highlight is the legendary reunion at the concert in Central Park in 1981 before more than half a million fans. Large projections with carefully selected photo and video material evoke the moods of the era and bring special moments of their success story back to the stage. One of the most successful duos of all time, the songs of Simon & Garfunkel were the soundtrack of an emotional time: "The Sound of Silence" was called the "anthem of the young generation" by the New York Times Magazine. No wonder, as many of their songs combined thoughtfulness, harmony, and "perfectly packaged melancholy" (Der Spiegel). Their influence on pop history is undisputed; Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were awarded ten Grammys. In 1990, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2003, they received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Today, the duo has sold over 100 million albums. "Even the first lines of 'The Sound Of Silence' or 'The Boxer' give you chills, while the energetic version of 'Cecilia' gets the whole audience clapping along" (Express).
