For whoever has come this far soon believes anything is possible.For director Markus Schleinzer, born in Vienna in 1971, "Rose" is only his third feature film after "Michael" and "Angelo". This time he departs from a specific figure and relies on fiction from the outset. However, this by no means implies that the film does not strive for historical authenticity: cases of women who, for example, around the Thirty Years' War, disguised themselves as men, and who were then, after being exposed, subjected to what was then considered a just punishment, are documented. Sandra Hüller received the Silver Bear at the Berlinale 2026 for her inspiring portrayal of Rose. Almost in the same breath, newcomer Caro Braun must be mentioned, who excels as Rose's wife Suzanna.
