What's it about?

Mourning needs space. The mourning room of the Melk Hospice Association, implemented by the Mank parish and supported by the Mank municipal community, is a specially designed place that accompanies people in times of farewell and loss. Here, mourning is allowed to have space – mindful and without expectations. In a lovingly prepared atmosphere with symbols, texts, candles, and music, visitors, as well as children, can find peace at various stations, express their feelings, recall memories, or simply be present. Everyone is welcome to stay here, write down thoughts, have conversations, or just let the silence work. Everything is voluntary, nothing is required – much is permitted. The mourning room is open to all people – regardless of age, origin, faith, or religion – and invites them to engage with the topics of life, farewell, and remembrance. Whether one has recently lost a loved one or simply wants to reflect on transience and life questions. It aims to build bridges between the inner world of feelings and an external place that carries and holds these feelings. Because: mourning needs space – in the middle of life, in the middle of the community. Therefore, the mourning room will also be held for the second time this year in the Mank municipal community. A place to pause. A space for heart and soul. No registration is necessary!
