With its long history, Traismauer is home to many treasures. Finds from the Roman era, precious items from Viennese operetta, and the unique Traismauer Nativity Play are just a few highlights of the new exhibition. Visitors can view the "Traismaurer Schätze" exhibition during the tourist information opening hours from April 1 to September 27, 2026: Wed-Fri + Sun 2-5 PM, Sat 12-5 PM. Tickets are available at the tourist information office in the castle. 2,000-year-old treasures – finds from long past times. Traismauer, also known as Augustianis, was one of several Roman forts along the right bank of the Danube. With a chain of defensive structures and the connecting road Limes, the Romans secured their northern border. The remains of the entire Danube Limes structure were recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The exhibition in Traismauer Castle shows hardly damaged pots, jewelry, and garment pins from the Roman era and tells the story of the city's former inhabitants. A long-kept "secret" is revealed. The archive of the International Viennese Operetta Society offers insights into original material from military bandmaster and operetta composer Carl Michael Ziehrer. Additionally, contemporary program booklets and many other precious items that make music lovers' hearts beat faster are on display. Experience cultural heritage in Traismauer Castle. Another treasure, long established in Traismauer, is presented as part of this exhibition: the Traismauer Nativity Play. This unique work has recently also been added to the intangible UNESCO cultural heritage and can be viewed as part of the exhibition.
