In 'The Deceitful Heuriger & Other Calamities,' the versatile artists read Austrian literature by Alfred Polgar, Josef Roth, Anton Kuh, Friedrich Torberg, Karl Kraus, and others... You will laugh a lot! And you will be amazed! Musically, they are accompanied by the Oberösterreichischen Concert Schrammeln with selected musical delicacies WITHOUT Heuriger music. "Restaurants are places where innkeepers greet, guests order, and waiters eat," says Karl Kraus. The stories of the evening deal with how life can ruin us even before it ends — about smaller and larger calamities related to basic physical and emotional needs. Topics include the other (Anton Kuh), the ugliness of language (Karl Kraus), poor service (Alfred Polgar), too good and too many (Friedrich Torberg), too bad and too few (Ernst Jandl), lost dreams (Felix Salten), desire (Peter Altenberg), and generally all kinds of misfortunes. Or simply bad luck. Enjoy the evening while it lasts, because soon the harsh everyday life will blow into your face again. Perhaps it is a small comfort if I tell you: I feel the same.
