Trotting up close... The trotting track in Baden bei Wien is considered the most beautiful historic summer racecourse in Europe; the trotting club was founded back in 1892. As the financially well-off public from Vienna was drawn to the south during the summer months, the idea arose at that time to organize trotting races in Baden. The first race day was held in 1893, and in 1895 the club held the "Championship of Europe" for the first time, which immediately developed into the most important race on the continent and annually saw the elite of European trotters at the start. Even today, the audience is as close to the fast racehorses as nowhere else. The program for the Night of the Horse includes exciting trotting races, mini trotters, Icelandics, a motocross show, and a large fireworks display. Four catering establishments and a wine stand provide culinary diversity, and entertainment is provided on every race day.
