Bolschoi Don Kosaken - Advent Concert
What's it about?
The famous men's choir Bolschoi Don Kosaken is the only one composed exclusively of opera soloists. After Serge Jaroff's illness, Prof. Petja Houdjakov took over some members of the Don Kosaken Choir in the 1979/80 season (Wanja Hlipka, Sadko Krastev, Bogumil Manov, Michael Minsky, among others) and built a new choir. To distinguish the ensemble from some smaller, often amateurish groups, it was named bolschoi (=large). This refers not only to the size of the choir, which can include up to 60 artists, but also to the voices, dancers, and musicians, all of whom are 'bolschoi'.
