Brass Band GloriaThe Brass Band Gloria was founded in 1994 in Kyjov (Czech Republic, South Moravia) as part of the music publishing house of the same name. The bandleader and owner of the publishing house is the trumpeter and composer Zdeněk Gurský. The band consists of 13 professional musicians and 2-4 singers. The musicians, trained to the highest level, dedicate themselves to traditional folk music as well as modern and classical music. Significant composers and arrangers emerge from the ranks of the band, such as bandleader Zdenek Gurský, trumpeter Pavel Skopal, tenor horn player Jiri Kadlec, baritone player Stanislav Orechovský and tuba player Pavel Bureš. This has created an almost inexhaustible repertoire of polkas, waltzes, solo pieces and also modern titles. Everything that makes a musician's heart beat faster. The band enjoys a large following. It is very popular both at home and in Western countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy. Gloria is also well-known through several television and radio appearances in the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria. In 2000, it won the title "European Champion in the Professional Class" at the first European Championship of Bohemian-Moravian Brass Music. The excellent vocal soloists sing in their native language as well as in German, English or Italian. At home and abroad, Sylvie Formánková (née Gurská) moderates the performances, optionally in Czech, German or English. Since its inception, Gloria has released more than 35 audio CDs and 4 video DVDs. Most of them in their own publishing house as well as in German publishing houses. In 2006, the first CD with international Christmas carols was created.
