Icon Painting for Beginners and Advanced Students

What's it about?

Away from the hustle and bustle, we want to create an atmosphere of contemplation and identification with the more than 1500-year-old tradition. The icon is the Holy Scripture depicted in colors and forms. The icon is a sacred image that shows us a spiritual, transcendental world. It is created through deep meditation of the spirit. Icon painting is a spiritual experience and handicraft at the same time. The aim of the course is for each participant to learn the individual steps for creating an icon on their own workpiece. At the end of the course, you can take your finished icon home with you. The icon blessing concludes the course. Speakers > Vesna Deskoska, restorer and icon painter, working as a freelance artist in Vienna since 2009. > Mag.a Silva Bozinova, born in Bulgaria, studied sociology and political science in Sofia, 1976 to 1983 studied art history in Skopje, Macedonia. Since 1989 she has lived with her family in Austria. Since 1991 she has worked as a freelance artist and icon painter. Together they teach the art of icon painting in several educational institutions in Austria, Germany, and Slovenia. Materials you may have at home (powder paints, primed boards, brushes, watercolor brushes N4/N1/N0, palette) can be brought along.
