What's it about?

The old custom of "Striezel-Poschn" is performed on the evening before All Saints' Day throughout the municipality. Venues include the inns and club halls of the market community. According to Wikipedia: Striezelposchn is a tradition from the Niederösterreich (Lower Austria) Weinviertel region. On All Saints' Day (October 31), it is customary to play Striezelposchn in numerous taverns each year. The rules are similar to those of the well-known game Paschen, but differ in that not the banker (the dealer) can win the stake, only the players among themselves. The first written record of Striezelposchn dates back to 1905, mentioned in a tavern in Riedenthal, and it was intended to promote business. Game rules: There are at least as many Striezel (stakes) as players, and usually a main prize (large Striezel, meter-long Striezel, etc.). The number of rounds per Striezel is predetermined (for example, three rounds). The points from each round are summed for each player. Three dice are rolled each time. Traditionally, this is done with an opaque cup. If the player rolls two identical numbers, the roll counts. The values of all three dice are added together. In each round, a player has three attempts. If they are not satisfied with a low score, they may roll again, but previous attempts are forfeited. If the player does not roll a valid combination (no two identical numbers) on subsequent tries, they score only 0 points for that round. If the player scores fewer points on a later attempt than on a previous one, only the points from the newer attempt count.
