October 4, 2026 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM The human desire to adorn oneself is almost as old as humanity itself. Impressive finds of necklaces made from shells or bones bear witness to this. Prehistory was by no means only black and white – traces of red ochre can be found on the famous Venus of Willendorf, and archaeologists also found red ochre in graves, such as that of the twins of Wachtberg. The active weekend "Creative Through the Millennia" on October 3 & 4, 2026, at the archaeological open-air site of MAMUZ Schloss Asparn/Zaya is dedicated to precisely this theme. Painting with earth colors, artfully decorating shells, making copper jewelry, felting wool, and pottery with clay: The program on both days offers an artistic range of activities. Guided tours through the exhibition take visitors on a journey through the history of art – from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. The active program in the archaeological open-air site is included in the museum admission. Guided tours through the exhibition at 11 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM. Cost per person (excl. admission): € 5,-
