What's it about?

Sixty years ago, the large municipality of Staatz was formed from the six previously independent communities of Ameis, Enzersdorf, Ernsdorf, Staatz-Kautendorf, Waltersdorf, and Wultendorf. The market town of Staatz is celebrating this anniversary with the support of the Kulturzentrum Staatz with a ceremonial event and an exhibition in the Staatz castle cellar. 60 years of municipal merger 1966 – 2026 "Schloss Staatz and its Heirs" in the Staatz castle cellar The market town of Staatz was created 60 years ago through the merger of six previously independent communities. Much has changed over this time. Especially the site of the former Staatz castle has developed into a center for music, culture, and education and is now a central location for the successful market town of Staatz. These traces of development are followed by the exhibition and the commemorative publication "Schloss Staatz and its Heirs". The exhibition shows the development of the market town in all its diversity. The commemorative publication traces, through eyewitness accounts, the evolution of Staatz Castle into a place of regional significance. Exhibition opening hours: - Sunday, September 20, 2026: 2 PM – 6 PM - Saturday, September 26, 2026: 2 PM – 6 PM - Sunday, September 27, 2026: 2 PM – 6 PM at the Staatz castle cellar. On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Staatz mountain will be the focus: Archaeologist Maximilian Obermayer will report in the Staatz castle cellar about the archaeological investigations around the fortress ruins, and afterwards, the ruins will be jointly explored. 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM – Lecture "Castle Staatz" – Archaeological Investigation 2025 with Maximilian Obermayer, archaeologist. Questions can be asked afterwards. 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM – Tour of Castle Staatz with Maximilian Obermayer.
