With George Frideric Handel's first oratorio Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (1707), the audience can expect not only a highlight of Baroque music, but also the festive closing concert of the ORGELspiel 2026 festival. To conclude the festival, a work of extraordinary musical and spiritual radiance will be performed, combining the drama of opera with the depth of oratorio. At its heart is a timeless conflict: Young Beauty (Bellezza) stands between the temptations of Pleasure (Piacere) and the admonitions of Time (Tempo) and Disillusionment (Disinganno), which point to the transience of all earthly things. From this exciting dialogue, Handel forms a musically rich and moving work full of expressiveness, virtuosity, and emotional depth.A top-class international ensemble of soloists has been engaged for this performance. The Italian soprano Roberta Invernizzi, one of the most important interpreters of Baroque vocal art, takes on the role of Bellezza. Alongside her sings the Viennese mezzo-soprano Anna Manske as Piacere, whose versatile opera and concert activities have taken her to numerous renowned stages in Europe. The role of Disinganno is performed by the Greek countertenor Nicholas Spanos, who has made a name for himself as a specialist in early music and Handel repertoire. As Tempo, the internationally sought-after Viennese tenor Daniel Johannsen can be experienced, who is one of the most distinguished Bach and oratorio interpreters of his generation.The soloists are accompanied by the Ensemble Continuum Wien, which performs on historical instruments and has been one of Austria's most distinguished original sound ensembles for many years. Its musicians are regularly guests at festivals, in important concert halls, and at historical performance venues at home and abroad. They are equally appreciated by audiences and the press for their stylistically differentiated and lively interpretations.The musical direction is by Daniel Freistetter, Artistic Director of Stiftsmusik Klosterneuburg and a proven specialist in early music.
