Black Stork at Dawn

Black Stork at Dawn

Sunday 2 August · 06:00folgen wir dem Flusslauf · niederoesterreich

What's it about?

Early in the morning, when the first sunbeams awaken life on the river, there is a magical atmosphere on the Thaya. Many animals such as beavers, black storks and otters are active at this time and, with a bit of luck, can be observed foraging or migrating. We start our tour with National Park Ranger Gerhard Gutkas at the new observation deck and hike steeply down the Granitzsteig to the Thaya riverbank. There we follow the course of the river, enjoy the morning atmosphere and perhaps encounter one or two shy national park inhabitants. Meeting point: Kaja Ruin car park, Merkersdorf Duration: approx. 4 hours. Cost: Adults € 17,- Registration until 3:00 p.m. the day before. Equipment: Binoculars or spotting scope. Rental binoculars from Swarovski Optik also available in limited numbers upon request.
