What's it about?

An August day in the Thaya Valley. The sun is high, the wind blows up from the river, and under your feet lies stone that has rested there for almost 1,000 years. You are standing in a castle that is still as a castle should be. For 16 days we open the gates, then we close them again. Those who come can discover the knight's hall, the chapel, the winter kitchen, the rock cellar, the east tower and more on their own. New in 2026: The Khevenhüllers in the Ancestral Hall. Here we show for the first time the history of the Khevenhüller family from 1730 - when Sigmund Khevenhüller acquired the castle. A family that held court offices and incurred debts, that fought in Mexico and was dispossessed by the Soviet Union - and yet always returned here.
