Piano Recital at Schrattenthal Castle

Pianist Robert Pobitschka on September 19, 2026, in the castle church of Schrattenthal near Retz “Soirée by Candlelight” Since the 2018 season, Schrattenthal Castle has enjoyed great popularity as the venue for the “Candlelight Concerts”. Robert Pobitschka – also the artistic director of the concert series – has performed many times in the castle church – with colleagues or solo, on the organ, harpsichord or piano. On September 19, he will present a piano recital with works by Franz Liszt, Edvard Grieg and Johann Sebastian Bach. “Invocation”, “Pensée des morts” and other pieces from Franz Liszt's great piano cycle “Harmonies poétiques et religieuses” will be performed. This cycle is a musical expression of his religious attitude and his enthusiasm for the Christian social doctrine of Abbé Lamennais – a cult figure in 19th-century France. Also on the program is the “Peer Gynt” Suite op. 46 by Edvard Grieg with the well-known “Morning Mood”. Prelude and Fugue in C major BWV 846 by Johann Sebastian Bach opens the program. Robert Pobitschka has performed Liszt's compositions several times with great success in recent years. In addition to his performances at home and abroad, composition is another focus of his work. Robert Pobitschka gave the premiere of his 1st Piano Concerto (“Deep blue”) as part of the “Carinthischer Sommer” festival. As a soloist with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, he performed the premiere of his 2nd Piano Concerto. Candlelight – the trademark of the “Candlelight Concerts” – and of course the very special ambience of Schrattenthal Castle also guarantee a very special magic. Before the concert, there is the opportunity to be introduced to the history of the complex by the castle owners, the Dr. Schubert family. Start: 6:00 PM. The lecture is included in the ticket price.
