What's it about?

Invitation: "Girls in Politics"This year, we would like to cordially invite you to participate in the "Girls in Politics" project. The project, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, aims to provide girls and young women with practical insight into local politics and thus contribute to making local politics a bit more female in the future. Since 2022, every year around the International Day of the Girl on October 11, mayors and Vienna district leaders, deputy mayors, and city councilors across Austria are accompanied in their work by interested girls and young women as part of the project. Last year, local politicians from 100 cities and municipalities, including four Vienna districts, participated in the project; further details can be found in the attached factsheet. If we have piqued your interest in the project, we kindly ask you to register soon here. Afterwards, you will receive further information and documents. The project starts with a virtual kick-off meeting on September 15 from 5 to 6 p.m., with Women's Minister Eva-Maria Holzleitner and experience reports from cities and municipalities that have already implemented the project. We would like to cordially invite you to this. All cities and municipalities registered for the project will receive the access data directly. Interested cities and municipalities have the opportunity to participate in the kick-off meeting without obligation to learn about the project and clarify open questions. For this, we ask you to register by the end of August at gender.equality@bmfwf.gv.at On this occasion, we would like to thank the many committed cities, municipalities, and districts that now support this project and for whom the promotion of women in local politics is an important concern.
