What's it about?
Markus Hauptmann, elementary school teacher and cabaret artist, presents his new solo show: "Teachers Were Also Once Humans." With sharp observation and stories straight from the educational frontline, he dissects the great transformation: from spontaneous Homo sapiens to checkered Homo pedagogicus. Teachers were actually just normal people! With hobbies! Spontaneous inspirations! And the incredible ability to talk about things other than educational standards and competency frameworks! What happened to the people who could tell jokes without first considering whether they were educationally relevant? Hauptmann shows with surgical precision how casual people systematically become beings who automatically say "Psst!" whenever children are laughing somewhere. At the center: the teachers' lounge — the Area 51 of the school. Here, coffee mugs have been living since the 80s. The Christmas cookies from 2004 establish parallel societies. And in the corner stands the first historically mentioned overhead projector, waiting for its daily use because the digital board once again has no Wi-Fi. Markus Hauptmann is the original, the pioneer, the patient zero of Austrian teacher comedy. As a real elementary school teacher, he delivers new material daily — straight from the institution. His self-irony is unbeatable, his punchlines hit the mark, and his credibility is as genuine as the stains on his favorite jacket. Rated: pedagogically worthless!
