What's it about?
Leonard Cohen can rightfully be regarded as one of the most outstanding poets and singer-songwriters of his time. Starting as a writer, he turned to songwriting in the 1960s due to a financial hardship. With his distinctive and minimalist arrangements, he created a style that remains unmatched to this day. The Canadian with Russian roots leaves behind an extensive body of work and will remain in our hearts for a long time through his music and lyrics. Christian Kölbl, born in Vienna, now lives in the Mühlviertel and impresses with his distinctive voice and his virtuosity on the guitar. Several CD productions and countless concerts across Europe and the USA over the past 40 years have shaped Kölbl into his new program. He can indeed be rightly called a true Cohen specialist. For 50 years now, Cohen has held a constant place in Kölbl’s life. Kölbl has set to music a book by Cohen, visited his house on the Greek island of Hydra, and met Cohen’s long-time companion Suzanne! With Nadja Milfait (cello and vocals) and Klara Dangl (violin and vocals), Christian Kölbl strives for maximum authenticity and clearly rejects forced pseudo-cover versions. This evening is a must for every Cohen fan, and anyone who might not yet be one should not miss the chance to become one here!
