What's it about?

For over 80 years, the legendary National Ballet of Georgia, Sukhishvili, has embodied art, inner strength, and inexhaustible energy. As the first and original ensemble of Georgian national dance, Sukhishvili stands worldwide like no other ensemble for authentic Georgian culture. The Georgian National Ballet Sukhishvili was founded in 1945 by Iliko and Nino Sukhishvili. Today, the ensemble is led by the third generation of the founding family. The grandchildren have preserved and developed the unique artistic heritage, making Sukhishvili a symbol of Georgian art and cultural identity. Audiences in Germany, the USA, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Sweden, the Baltic states, and many other countries can expect an extraordinary program featuring the most significant choreographies from the entire history of the ensemble – masterpieces of the highest perfection and virtuosity, which have long become the cultural calling card of Georgia on stages around the world. For eight decades, Sukhishvili has delighted millions of viewers on the most renowned stages worldwide – from the Metropolitan Opera in New York to La Scala in Milan. International media have described the ensemble as "the eighth wonder of the world" (The New York Times), "a whirlwind on stage" (Daily Telegraph), and "an energy that lifts the entire hall from the seats" (Le Figaro). All these descriptions share one thing: Sukhishvili is a unique phenomenon worldwide – a fireworks display of energy, elegance, and beauty. The concert program is a true explosion of emotions. Breath-taking male choreography with spectacular acrobatics, powerful jumps, and swirling sabers will leave the audience breathless, while the female dancers enchant with grace, elegance, and dignity. The ensemble's unmistakable trademark remains the legendary male dance on tiptoe – a unique technique mastered only by Sukhishvili. In addition to the overwhelming dance art, spectators can expect a fascinating visual experience: magnificent costumes made from natural fabrics, decorated with elaborate silk embroidery, stones, and metal elements. The ensemble's live orchestra creates a distinctive soundscape with rare Georgian instruments and centuries-old playing techniques passed down through generations. Eighty years of history mean recognition by millions of enthusiastic spectators, tens of thousands of performances, guest appearances in over 100 countries on five continents, and performances on the most important stages of the world. The ballet Sukhishvili has forever inscribed its name into the history of international dance and music culture. Sukhishvili is much more than a concert. It is a celebration where history, pride, and an incomparable zest for life come together – an experience that will stay in the hearts of viewers for a long time.
