Anticipated Timing (subject to change). From 7:00 PM: Doors Open 8:00 PM: Start 10:00 PM: Anticipated End including intermission Following the highly successful extended 50th-anniversary celebrations of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells across Europe, The Best of Tubular Bells I, II & III – a tribute to the genius of these iconic and groundbreaking musical works – will embark on a European tour in autumn 2026. Mike Oldfield is considered one of the most visionary and influential musicians of all time. His Tubular Bells series spans three albums and 27 years: Tubular Bells was created in 1971 and released in 1973, Tubular Bells II came out in 1992 (the premiere from Edinburgh Castle is one of the most watched and streamed music events of all time), and Tubular Bells III followed in 1998 (with the excerpt "Far above the Clouds," which was played at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London). With each album, Oldfield expanded on the magnificent themes and theatrical variations he composed at just 17 years old, constantly pushing musical boundaries. The European tour The Best of Tubular Bells I, II & III will be performed by a large live ensemble, led and arranged by Oldfield's long-time collaborator Robin Smith. The complete Tubular Bells I will be played, along with extended parts from Tubular Bells II and III, and the global hit Moonlight Shadow. Tubular Bells, composed in 1971 and released in 1973, was Oldfield's debut album. The English multi-instrumentalist, composer, and songwriter began the work at just 17 years old, played almost all instruments himself, and gained worldwide fame when the main theme was used for the soundtrack of the horror film The Exorcist. The album became the best-selling instrumental album of all time. As a bold and progressive fusion, Tubular Bells is a journey through classical, jazz, folk, progressive rock, and electronic music and was awarded the Grammy for "Best Instrumental Composition" in 1974. Tubular Bells II was released in 1992 and, like its predecessor, reached number 1 on the UK album charts. With the Top 10 single Sentinel, the album was certified double platinum in the UK. Tubular Bells III came out in 1998 and was inspired by the electronic music in the bars and clubs of Ibiza, where Oldfield had moved in 1996. Since the premiere of the Tubular Bells 50th Celebration, the great love for Mike's music has been evident. Smith says: "In the Best of concert, we can play excerpts from all three masterpieces and highlight the musical brilliance and technical advancements that emerged between the first and third albums. It will be an unforgettable evening and a great challenge for the wonderful musicians." Robin A. Smith, Grammy-nominated musical director of the tour, was completely overwhelmed by Tubular Bells from the first listen. He studied composition at the Royal College of Music, toured the world for several years as a pianist, and was principal pianist of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra before meeting Mike Oldfield over 30 years ago. Smith has collaborated with Oldfield for over three decades, including performances of various Tubular Bells albums in iconic locations such as Edinburgh Castle, Horse Guards Parade, and at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games. The concert of the Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary Tour from London's Royal Festival Hall is now available on Amazon Prime. Quote from Robin Smith: "I have been very fortunate to work with Mike since the premiere and creation of Tubular Bells II. All these epic works in the Tubular Bells series are full of creativity and repeatedly take the listener on extraordinary journeys of imagination. We have been fortunate to present our newly designed version of Tubular Bells worldwide – a show that so many people have enthusiastically embraced. That's when the thought occurred to us, how wonderful
