What's it about?
John Jones is coming – with new songs, old friends, and the very reassuring news that music apparently is not retiring after all. He became known as the voice of Oysterband, one of the most enduring and influential folk/roots/rock bands in Great Britain. Stylistically, the group has found its own place between folk, punk, and rock – and has consistently defended it. After more than 20 albums, countless tours, festivals from Glastonbury to Tønder, and numerous awards, the band officially said goodbye in 2023 with the "Long Goodbye" tour. That’s the theory. Because in 2026, they will continue. Together with Ray Cooper (also known as Chopper) and producer/guitarist Al Scott, John brings songs from all phases of life: Oysterband classics, solo material, new pieces, and traditional songs that are probably older than any "band history." All performed with changing line-ups, plenty of instruments, and even more experience. The tour is called "The Song Goes On" – and that’s exactly how it feels: not a big comeback drama, but simply continuing.
