What's it about?
Un serán galego en Viena – third edition An evening like a late gathering at the end of the day: voices, stories, music – and a space that slowly fills with life. That's what they call it in Galicia: Serán. And exactly this feeling moves into the Sargfabrik for an evening. "Galician Night in Vienna" brings music and culture from the Atlantic coast into a new resonance space. Not folklore in a display case, but a lively togetherness: tradition meets present, sound meets memory, Vienna meets Galicia. A dialogue that unfolds – between songs, stories and shared moments. At the center is a time of upheaval and ruptures: the cultural flourishing around the Second Spanish Republic – and its abrupt silencing. Inspired by Jesús Bal y Gay, medieval sounds, Renaissance music, traditional melodies and echoes of modernity intertwine to form a multi-layered soundscape. Music here becomes a carrier of memory, a narrator of exile, loss and survival. What makes this evening special is the in-between: the shared listening, the pausing, the thinking further. Musicians from Galicia and Vienna meet on an equal footing and create a space that is more than a concert. And because a real Serán never consists only of music, there is also a small culinary journey to Galicia: for tasting, sharing and toasting. The concert is part of the Espazos Sonoros Festival, a music festival established in Galicia (Spain) with almost two decades of history and an international focus.
