What's it about?
Big Sky – The Sound of the Nineties The sky – big and wide! That's how we saw it in the 90s: just finished school, finally enjoying freedom, finally starting our own lives. We, the musicians of Generation X, made our own soundtrack, fitting for that time. Samplers and Atari 1040ST computers became part of our equipment, and in my case, a lot of digital keyboards were added. Starting as a small pianist in the 70s at the Margareten music school in Vienna, after a music-hungry teenage phase in the 80s, the 90s were my playtime. I earned my living as a musician with commercial CD productions and many live performances as a keyboardist with artists all over the world. My own music was influenced by lounge, downbeat, and acid jazz – music that, with its relaxedness, formed a counterpoint to my work. Many compositions were created, immortalized on hard drives and forgotten over the years, which I am now, at 59, reviving. Simply to see that big, wide sky again… Throughout, instrumental pieces, performed and given a healthy dose of improvisation by a quartet (drums, double bass, keys, trumpet) with Dominik Fuss on trumpet and a special guest as a small surprise!
