What's it about?

Community Theater Districts It seems cursed. Walpurgis Night, an ancient witch tradition of the highest importance, is approaching. High up on the Blocksberg, all the witches gather for the annual dance. Only the little witch is not allowed to come, as she is 127 years old and almost still a child! She finds this quite unfair, whether riding a broom or reciting spells – she can do everything at least as well as the grown-ups! Unfazed, she sneaks in anyway and is promptly caught by the Grand Witch: if she is truly an adult, she must prove it and become a good witch! And she has until the next Walpurgis Night to do so, where the witch tribunal will decide her fate. Easier said than done, right? 'Good witches must not do evil!' - Abraxas, at least, that’s what her clever raven Abraxas says. He advises her to memorize the entire spellbook and to follow all (un-)written rules. But sometimes, certain situations require a creative solution; rules are made to be broken. And who decided that witchcraft is not allowed on Fridays? Between buttermilk rain, ox rescue, and forest ranger riding, the little witch must figure out herself what makes a good witch. The story of the little witch was created by Otfried Preußler at home. One night, his daughters couldn’t fall asleep, afraid of evil witches. But he knew how to reassure them: those witches no longer exist! So there’s no reason to be afraid. But is that really true? To convince his children, he had to be inventive. The world-famous storyteller, as he liked to call himself, wrote over 20 children’s books in his lifetime. Alone, 'The Little Witch' has been translated into 46 languages. Much of what he told as a teacher was first shared with his students and later written down. His works have shaped the imagination of generations of young people and are still a staple in every child's room.
