What's it about?

Doors: 20:00, Start: 20:30 BALU & DIE SURFGRAMMELN Terror strikes from the bottom of River Danube – this invasion of generic Viennese natives brings you a ton of reverb-drenched guitars, swirling melodies from a fretless bass and primitive, hyper-sexual pounding drums, celebrating sonic landscapes built out of high-speed instrumental Rock'n Roll. Their origins and influences yet remain unclear; however, the most widely accepted theory is that they were taken at an early age from their natural parents Dick Dale, Edmund Sackbauer and Lily Munster by hideous aliens who exposed them to some sort of education solely consisting of B-movies and Man or Astro-Man records in a Martian orphanage run by the Cat Women of the Moon. Balu (dr), Kate Gramml (bs), The Grammeloni (bs VI), Wolfman Gramml (git & random voc), BOSS “The Voice” RC-3 Gramml (doomsday sermons) www.surfgrammeln-san.org/ www.facebook.com/BaluUndSurfgrammeln PORTOBELLO EXPRESS The Viennese band Portobello Express is a sonic time machine that transports the listener back to the raw energy of 60s and 70s psychedelic and blues rock. Their music, a vibrant, multicultural tapestry, is rooted in this iconic era. Even the name is an allusion: “Portobello” refers to the legendary London district and the band's Italian roots through singer Betty. “Express” refers to the energy of Italian espresso and powerful locomotives. Founded in 2015, the band's diverse backgrounds – Patrick's 30 years of R&B experience with The Jaybirds and Betty's passion for West Coast, soul and gospel – merge to create music that is both retro and refreshingly modern. Having shared stages with international acts, they have built a strong presence across Europe. Their EP “You Cry” (2021) and the subsequent prog-rock track “Unique” paved the way for their album “B.P.M.” (2023), a seven-song exploration of heavy blues and psychedelic rock, carried by Betty's confident vocals. Their latest release, the single “Sorrow & Pain”, underpins their innovative approach with a Schubert-inspired fusion of classical and contemporary sounds. From their first single in 2017 to several EPs and vinyl releases, Portobello Express continues to forge its own unique path in the modern rock landscape. https://linktr.ee/portobelloexpress
