Flona - Selfmade Feminist
What's it about?
FLONA was born in 1999, and ever since then, she's been wondering what the hell is wrong with this world. She's always been a nuisance because she constantly asks annoying questions like "Why?" The problem is: The answer is often "Because you're a girl" - an answer that is absolutely unacceptable to FLONA. The performer Denice Bourbon once called FLONA a "Self-Made Feminist." She was reacting to the many stories FLONA had told her about growing up in Al-Sukhnah in Syria, about life as a teenage refugee and Woman of Color in conservative Bavaria, and about her new beginning in Vienna and discovering her queerness. From a very strict and conservative upbringing to her emancipation in adulthood, FLONA has forged her own path and developed her understanding of feminism through all these challenges herself.
