Pettersson und Findus
What's it about?
"Findus has a birthday three times a year. Just because it's more fun that way." (Sven Nordqvist) Pettersson lives happily on his farm, with his chaos, his inventions, and his ten chickens. He is doing well. No one tells him what to do or not to do. Although he sometimes feels a little lonely and would really like to have a conversation. But it's too late to get married. He had to do that many years ago. One day, a neighbor brings him a box labeled "Findus's green peas." Inside: a small cat. And it turns Pettersson's life upside down. Because Findus is not only very lively and curious – he can also speak. The adventures of Pettersson and Findus made Swedish author and illustrator Sven Nordqvist world-famous. Picture books, radio plays, songs, cartoons, and films – there is nothing that does not exist from the funny Findus and the quirky Pettersson. The two are also indispensable on theater stages... What is special about the stories and adventures that the old man and the cat experience: the principle of live and let live. Findus repeatedly puts the old man into uncomfortable and unusual situations. And he accepts it with a calm smile, handles everything – but not without paying attention to himself and his own limits. Needs-based parenting made easy. Or better: the perfect example of reinforcement rather than upbringing. However – and this is exactly the art – it is still told with poetry and lightness for the little ones. Cast with Samouil Stoyanov. Directed by Mechthild Harnischmacher. Stage and costume design by Julia Rosenberger. Dramaturgy by Matthias Seier.
