What's it about?
Good day, my name is Genie. I have many talents. Hanging spotlights, positioning hoists, hanging stage sets from the ceiling and much more. I am a lifting platform and you can also find me in DSCHUNGEL WIEN. Normally I work behind the scenes, but in this performance I play the main role. A technician is in the middle of preparations for a concert that is about to take place. She has set out to create a brilliant light show. On the way, something unexpected happens. Genie comes alive and does what she wants. The spotlights also only have mischief in mind and where does the music even come from? In GENIE, theater.nuu deals with the tension between the technical apparatus and its very own magic. It is a play with the technical possibilities that transform a stage into a magical place through light and music. Last but not least, GENIE is also a declaration of love to all technicians - the "genies" with their "genies" - without whose great and often invisible work the magic of the theater would not be possible. That's why we bring them to the forefront and into the spotlight for this performance.
