Ophelia is new at school and immediately notices Hamlet: a strangely reserved guy who dwells on dark thoughts and likes to provoke with elaborate expressions. Still, she is fascinated by him and his reflections on the feeling of being lost in the face of all the possibilities that life offers, and the gnawing doubt about one's own existence. The two fall in love but keep it a secret. However, suddenly Hamlet's father dies, and overnight Hamlet changes, becoming darker, more fatalistic, because he harbors a terrible suspicion: what if his mother and uncle are involved in his father's death to gain an advantage? Holger Schober playfully explores characters and motifs from Shakespeare's classic about the search for meaning in life—and directly transfers them to the time of perhaps the greatest upheaval of all certainties: puberty. To be or not to be, but also to be together or not—these are the questions that make up this whirlwind through emotional and mental worlds. "Rollercoaster of feelings with deliberately different energy levels, with the daredevil on one side and the doubter on the other, paired with classics and lots of joy of playing."
