Der große Diktator
What's it about?
Austrian premiere. In 1940, Charlie Chaplin's classic film THE GREAT DICTATOR about Adolf Hitler's megalomania was released in cinemas, in which the most popular comedian of his time made a humanist statement at the beginning of World War II. Stefko Hanushevsky creates his own story from this and takes the audience on a fantastic bus tour to his childhood in the countryside of Upper Austria, his love for Chaplin and the films, his time as a tour guide in the depths of Austrian tourism industry, and his dream of a big career in New York. In countless roles, he combines fiction and biography in a spectacular solo film.
